At Henderson Hills, we are committed to ministering to children (birth through 5th grades) and equipping parents to raise them in faith. Rooted in Psalm 78:4, we strive to tell the next generation of God’s mighty deeds and help lay a lasting foundation of faith.
We believe Scripture equips us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17), so we partner with families to train children in God’s truth (Deuteronomy 6:7). Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and loving environment, earning the trust to share the gospel, which leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Hillside Kids is available on Sundays at 9 & 10:30 am. Children birth-Pre-K may attend one or both sessions. Children in Kindergarten-5th grades are encouraged to attend one session and attend worship with their families during the other session.
Our Community Groups consist of age-appropriate Bible teaching, hands-on activities and crafts, training in prayer, and large-group worship with drama, singing, and movement. We utilize the Gospel Project curriculum following a chronological timeline of Biblical events over a three year span to teach kids the Bible is one story, God's story of redemption through Jesus Christ.
During the school year, kids can also attend our Wednesday night programming at 6:15 pm called G2, designed to be an extension of our weekend curriculum with a focus on discipleship (growth) and missions (go). G2 elements include a time of corporate worship, missions moments, active games, and small groups.
As support for various other ministries in our church, Hillside Kids also provides a safe and enjoyable environment for children while their parents participate in ministry activities. Childcare is available for newborns to Pre-K (and sometimes Pre-K through 5th grade) for most evening activities and special events throughout the year. In most cases, Henderson Hills relies on paid and trained workers who provide childcare on Sunday and Monday. Children are accepted into their classrooms 15 minutes before each activity.
Our goal is to inspire kids to worship Jesus by pointing them to the transforming power of the gospel. Hillside Kids love singing, so we make worship a regular part of our schedule. Some develop a passion for leading others in worship, and our kids' choir nurtures that desire.
While singing techniques are taught, the greater focus is on understanding worship—what it is, why it matters, and how to lead others. Each rehearsal includes a time to explore biblical principles of worship.

The Hideaway Shoppe is a fun and meaningful incentive program designed to help kids "hide" God’s Word in their hearts—inspired by Psalm 119:11. As part of their Community Group experience, children in K-5th grades earn points for key activities like attending Community Group, bringing a Bible, memorizing Scripture, learning the books of the Bible, and inviting first-time visitors. These points can be saved and redeemed for exciting toys and prizes at the Hideaway Shoppe, which takes place during all Community Group times throughout the school year. It’s a fun way to encourage spiritual growth while celebrating their efforts to know and love God’s Word!

SAFETY & SECURITY
Our goal is to ensure, to the best of our ability, the safety, and security of our church members, beginning with our youngest and most vulnerable ones. We take every precaution possible and adhere to a three-fold approach to safety: (1) worker training and screening, (2) on-site security personnel, and (3) secure child check-in system. Furthermore, classroom doors have windows so that activities are visible from the hallways and video monitors observe activities around entrances and hallways.
Recognizing and Reporting (RR) training is a mandatory qualification for every person working with children (birth through college) and and adults with special needs at Henderson Hills.
Birth-1st Grade classrooms are staffed with two people at all times and are regularly monitored by supervisory staff. Before working with children, each volunteer leader and paid staff member must undergo a background check, interview, and reference check and complete a Recognizing and Reporting training session.
