PAST DISCUSSION GUIDES

DIVISIONS & DEFIANCE

This series walks through a season in Israel’s history marked by division—division among kings, between nations, and even in worship. Though sin and idolatry pulled God’s people away from Him, God’s mercy never failed. Through the prophets, He promised hope: a Savior who would one day restore and lead His people back to Himself.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

"In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity." - Rupertus Meldenius. Christian faith contains doctrines that we must keep “First Things First”. These are the essentials to salvation that are important for every Christian to believe. There are also secondary and tertiary issues that differ between believers. How can we love one another with these non-essential differences? Join us this winter as we seek to understand and love God and each other more as we look at some of the big principles of our faith.

PROPHETS AND PROVISION

God orchestrated the return of His people from exile to Jerusalem. By leading them to rebuild His temple and the walls of the city, God made a way to restore their relationship because He longs for the hearts of His people to be reconciled to Him. Through the leadership of Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Zechariah, and Malachi the people repented and confessed and returned to a yearning for God’s Word and true worship of Him.

FAITHFUL (1 Corinthians)

“And God was faithful…” Isn’t that such a beautiful phrase? That word “faithful” pertains to being trustworthy and dependable. It describes someone we can have full confidence in. Only God is all of those things. But how do we experience and embrace His faithfulness in our everyday lives?

HE SHALL REIGN (1 Samuel)

Do Old Testament stories still matter today? Though we don’t live in a monarchy or defend a promised land, the same temptations from 1 Samuel arise in our lives. Just as Israel rejected God as King, we too can seek control elsewhere—yet nothing removes God from His throne. The truth remains: "He Shall Reign."
