PSALMS SERMON SERIES

Journeying through the book of Psalms, one psalm at a time. Psalms is the largest book in the Bible as well as the most quoted in the New Testament. The word literally means praises, and throughout history, the Psalms have been used by the people of God as both a prayer book and a hymnal. We are taking our time through this series to savor and mine out the deep riches that are found within each psalm. From the first word to the last, the overriding theme is that human happiness is found only in God.

Psalm 80 calls us to cry out for restoration, trusting that only God’s shining presence—fulfilled in Jesus, the Light of the World can rescue us from darkness and bring new life.

Psalm 79 teaches us how to face devastation by grieving our sin, pleading for God’s mercy for His name’s sake, and trusting that He will ultimately vindicate His glory and redeem His people.

Allen Rice explores Psalm 78, emphasizing its portrayal of Israel's spiritual journey—a cycle of God’s grace, the people’s rebellion, and God’s mercy.

Psalm 77 encourages believers to embrace honest communication with God, rely on Scripture, and trust in His eternal faithfulness to navigate trials.

Psalm 76 reminds us that the God who humbles the proud and saves the humble is to be worshiped with awe, reverence, and unwavering trust.

Psalm 75 reminds us that when the world feels out of control and evil seems to win, God is still holding everything steady and will bring perfect justice in His time.

Psalm 73 reminds us that even when our circumstances don’t change, our faith can be anchored in God’s goodness, sovereignty, wisdom, and faithfulness.

Psalm 72 paints a picture of the ideal king—Jesus Christ. He is the true and eternal King who will one day bring perfect justice and global peace.
